Animal Success Stories
"My little dog---a heartbeat at my feet." Edith Wharton Our lives will forever be enriched because of the dachsies that touched our hearts in rescue, but we know the real healing does not begin until they leave our care. We encourage, we celebrate, we do everything we can to give them the skills they need to put their best paw forward as they wait for their forever families to find them . . . and then the time comes to say goodbye. Often we shed tears. We remember when they came in, how far they’ve come, the hiccups along the way – we laugh, we cry – and then we always say a little prayer as we send them on their way. We hope they find the confidence to keep that best paw forward, because we know, when they do, they will truly flourish. It is then, they will heal; it is then, they will find peace. If you have adopted one of our adorable dachsies, and would like to contribute a Success Story, please e-mail dakotadachshund@hotmail.com, and we will add it to the website. Be sure to send us a current picture. We do love pictures!!! Please visit our Success Stories page to read all of our stories!
Muffin Hi my name is Muffin and I was adopted into my new family in September of 2010. I have wanted to share my story with others for months now, but I have been too busy having fun with my family to write my story! So one year later here is the story of my life with my new family. When I first went home with my family from Germanfest last year, I was not very outgoing. My mom and dad made me go out and meet more people, and spoiled me, and soon I became more loving to others. I loved spending time with my mom and dad, but always wanted a companion. So in May my parents brought home my buddy and companion, Dexter. Dexter and I love to wrestle together and beg for treats from mom and dad! Mom and Dad say we cause lots of trouble, but we just flash our cute Dachshund eyes and melt their hearts! This past summer we went on many new adventures, especially visiting both sets of grandparents. I always know that grandpa will "drop" me food and grandma knows the best way to cuddle. These are our favorite trips, because we know we will always be spoiled. This past year my parents decided the house and yard was just not big enough for Dexter and I, so we got to move to a bigger and better house. We have had a great time running in our new backyard and meeting all of our new neighbors. In my free time I love to go for walks, lay out in the sun, chew on bones, cuddle with my mom, dad, and Dexter. I love my new home, but also want to thank Dakota Dachshund Rescue for helping me find my new family! Thanks Judy and Dakota Dachshund! Jeff and Amy Cook |
