Edith Wharton Our lives will forever be enriched because of the dachsies that touched our hearts in rescue, but we know the real healing does not begin until they leave our care. We encourage, we celebrate, we do everything we can to give them the skills they need to put their best paw forward as they wait for their forever families to find them . . . and then the time comes to say goodbye. Often we shed tears. We remember when they came in, how far they’ve come, the hiccups along the way – we laugh, we cry – and then we always say a little prayer as we send them on their way. We hope they find the confidence to keep that best paw forward, because we know, when they do, they will truly flourish. It is then, they will heal; it is then, they will find peace. Radar thanks for the e-mail. Yesterday was such a whirlwind that we did have questions but figured someone would contact us, or we would figure it out. As i type, Radar is sitting beneath my feet. He is pretty timid but is doing ok. He hasn't eaten much yet to speak of, but we will get some dog chow and mix it with our beneful which our dog eats. He has been outside numerous times and is doing okay with his harnass and leash. We had quite a rainstorm last night, so both of the dogs had accidents on the kitchen floor. Oh well!! He met our two cats and was very curious, but of course they just walked on by and wanted nothing to do with him. He has wandered throughout most of the house and seems content. He barks only when my husband and son make quick movements, but it just makes us laugh because he is so quiet otherwise. We will be looking into some training classes for him and my son as I would like Dylan to be his primary caregiver as time goes on. We will wait and see about that. I am hopefully attaching a picture of him and our dog, Julia. Thanks for everything! We love Radar and will take very good care of him. Good luck with your mission, you guys do a great job. Bella Some pictures of bella still ajusting to things and daisy, She is doing good no accidents and she is eating good.ust a quick update on how Bella is doing! What a wonderful gift she is to us! She has transitioned quite well to her new home - eating, sleeping and potty training readjustment. I am trying to download pictures, but I am not very good at it. My grandson spent the last 3 days with us and he and Bella did very well. Daisy and Bella continue to get adjusted to each other and today they finally got on the couch together! I bought Bella a sweater for those cold days, but she walked right out of it - hopefully it will stay on when she has to go outside to the bathroom.
Lil' Slugger They put a new bed in the child seat of the cart so he could ride around comfortably and pick out his new things. He loved it! Deb Ritter
Winston No Problem! We were just thinking about sending you a note. Thanks for the pictures of Winston :) Winston is doing very well. Since we have brought him home he has just slid right into the routine of the day. He is responding to the one on one training fairly well and has only had 2 potty accidents in the house... His really enjoys playing with everyone and has as much energy as our three year old... Emma and Winston are best buds and enjoy playing around together and Emma really enjoys going along on the walks with Winston. I have included some pictures the first one is of Winston playing with Dustin and his favorite toy that has already seen better days... and the second one is after a nice game of tug of war with the pig Winston enjoys laying by the couch chewing on his raw hide bone.. We really really enjoy having Winston as our newest family memember.. The Willis Family Stephanie
Katie Dear Foster Moms, I hope you remember me, Katie. I tried calling you, but I didn't know your telephone number. I found your e-mail addresses instead. I am always on my new mom's desk bothering her when I want attention, which is pretty much everyday. I know it has been a little while since I have written you. I am sorry. I have been so very busy adjusting to life in Denver, Colorado. It had been a little ruff at first because I was a little scared of my new surroundings, additionally, I was not used to all the attention and love that I was receiving. But, I quickly found out how nice it is to be held, have my belly rubbed and my ears scratched, lay in the sunshine, roll around in the grass, look for dead wormies to roll around in, walk with my brothers, feel the grass on my low-belly and the flap of my ears when I run through the park, sleep in the big bed, eat warm meals, have all the bones I could ever want to chew, decide which dog bed will by mine for the day....the list just goes on and on and on... All the people I have met here in Colorado tell me how beautiful I am - they are so nice. They sometimes giggle at me, I think it is because I like to run up to them and say hello. I learned that there are truly nice people in this world full of love for little ones like me. Which brings me to my next point, I don't know how to ever say thank-you for being the first people to love me. You didn't even know me, yet you loved me enough to save me so that I could start this new awesome life! I still have my blankie that you gave me. I sleep in it almost every day. I will remember you always and want you to know that I am part of a family now and it is the best feeling ever! I never thought my life could be filled with this much happiness. I wish all my brothers and sisters in foster care will find homes just like mine! Ok, I have to go now; but, I was wondering if I qualify as one of your success stories to post on your webpage?
