UPDATE 12/22/2010 Max is doing awesome and has recuperated nicely from his surgery. He runs chases and plays with us and the dachshunds at our house. We have taught him to use doggie stairs instead of jumping on and off the couch.

Max is an awesome dachshund. Can you be his forever family? Max's adoption fee is $250.

Can you help us help Max! Max is a wonderful boy who was dropped at the Humane Society as he was in pain and his owners had no resources to take him th the vet. Dr Heidi assessed and thought he would be an easy medical management with kennel rest. Unfortunately a week later he is now down in the back and needs emergency surgery to relieve his pain.

Please sponsor Max by donating per PayPal....he needs all of our love, prayers and donations for surgery to get back on his feet.

10/9/2010 Max is back and doing well. He walks well, his right back leg is a little week but he gets stronger everyday. It's hard to keep him quiet as he really would like to run, chase and play, unfortunately he can't for 8 weeks. Max needs to rest and let his back heal. It'll be a long 8 weeks but it will be well worth it!

Max is a beautiful loving boy, he is pain free and much happier now.

We still have a long way to go to raise the money for his surgery, thanks to all who have donated by PayPal so far!

9/28/10 5:25 P.M.  Thanks so much to LuAnn who took care of many many foster doxies in Mitchell and then took off very early from Mitchell to pick up Max and take him to Omaha. Dr Thoesen assessed, did a myelogram went to surgery, just called me very optimistic that he has relieved the pressure that the steroids could not. Say lots of prayers for Max and his speedy recovery, I have been dealing with HS and previous owner all afternoon...bottom line...Max XXI is cared for, DDR's responsibility and we will get him back to our home when Dr Thoesen deems acceptable.
Thanks to everyone for prayers, thoughts and even a $10 donation...every little bit counts at this point! Please post Max XXI on your Facebook Page..,Kristi is working on a poster....email it to families and friends! Look at the pics of Max XXI on our website and know that in my heart of hearts I had no option but to help this handsome boy!
Thank you all for the love and support for all the foster dachshunds in DDR...I love all of them like I love my own.
Diane
