Ruby is a very sweet girl.  She is timid, but she will come around.  No one knows what happened to make her so frightened, but when she learns how much we all love her and then finds a family of her very own, things will be much better for Ruby.

Ruby is making progress.  She knows the routine here, and she very much likes knowing what will happen next.  Ruby tends to do what the other dachsies do, so following her foster mom around and wagging her tail has become the norm.  She also plays very well with all the other dachsies.

Picking up Ruby is getting easier with time, but it is still scary for her.  Sometimes, when her foster mom scratches her on the head, she even forgets she is supposed to be so scared! 

Ruby is still very cautious with new people, but she no longer hides in the kitchen, which is great progress.  Now she will peek around doorways – all by herself even – just to see what is going on.  Not even new voices will keep her away.  We are so very proud of her! 

We will continue to work with Ruby’s confidence, so she can be the happy and carefree little dachshund she was born to be.  We’ve already got the happy.  Now we just need the carefree.  We’ll get there . . . with time.  We just know it!
